G mail priority inbox finds the important messages and sorts them for you. At the top of the inbox it will say important and bring them to the top of the list, unimportant messages will then go to the bottom this will make it easier for you to use. There is a star option which you can click and it will save the the email to read later. Gmail has this, whereas hotmail does not - making it more efficient in sorting messages and helps avoid imformation overload.

Gmail has filters which can save more important emails for yourself, with hotmail you cannot filter messages. Gmail already has a good spam filter but it can also predict what is really important depending on which emails you read most often and reply to which is more important than just reading it. If it makes a mistake then you can manually say which messages are important and vice versa. over time it will get better and better.
